Not many people consider Papua New Guinea to be a surfing destination. In fact thousands of miles of coastline provide great opportunities for surfing and kite surfing. As the scene is quite new, the potential hot spots are still waiting to be explored. The uncrowded surf is a huge advantage and makes surfing so special. Vanimo, Wewak and all the east coast of the New Ireland Province with Kavieng have stolen surfers' hearts, while kite surfers appreciate shallow waters around Port Moresby and Milne Bay Province. The season from November to April is convergent with the monsoon.
