Among birdwatching and scuba diving, festivals are undoubtedly the main reason to visit Papua New Guinea. The country offers a number of annual cultural shows which boast the opportunity to witness sing sing groups from throughout the country. The festival's season opens with the Madang Festival in June, while the Simbu Karimu Show held in November is the last cultural show of the year. Canoe & Kundu Festival in Alotau, Warwagira & Mask Festival in Kokopo, Ambunti Crocodile Festival in Ambunti and Mt Hagen and Goroka Shows are among the most popular events. However, recently an increasing number of small regional events have been popping up due to both the growing identity of the autochtones, and popularity among tourists. Who knows which of the small shows will become another major show?
