In surprising and fabulous news for gourmet travellers, there are amazing and mouth watering experiences to discover for food lovers. The fresh seafood selection at local markets will satisfy even the fussiest seafood enthusiast. Among varieties of reef fish, tuna, crabs, squid and lobsters are plentiful. Expect them in coastal markets, especially in bustling Port Moresby, but also at intimate little markets in Alotau, Madang and Kavieng. On the other hand the Highlands will satisfy vegans and vegetarians. The Highlanders are known to be first gardeners in the world, and they know how to cultivate the finest fruit and vegetables. Green leaves of any kind including different types of cabbage, lettice, fern leaves, pumpkin leaves are the standard, but expect also some fruits or nut you have never heard of before and try it. Juicy fruits including mangoes and pineapples are a must. Try to cook or grill the local food with the Papuans!
